"Skylark" Type M08
1925
Skylark Radio Corporation
A Division of the
J. W. Whitlock Corporation

This Skylark is special in that it has four audio output jacks instead of the usual single audio output.  This is because this particular set was designed as a demonstration set.  This set would be set up at various stores and gatherings and up to four potential customers could listen to the set at the same time.  A few unique features of this radio is the three large brass dials, the two lever style filament controls and the knob on the side of the cabinet.  This knob is connected to a long shaft that connects to all three tuning condensers.  Each stage of tuning can be adjusted separately and when the knob on the side is turned, all three tuning condensers and dials will turn in unison.  The serial number of this set is AR3-109.  It was manufactured by the Skylark Radio Corporation which was a division of the J. W. Whitlock Corporation, manufacturers of fine furniture, coin operated mechanical harps, arcade horse race games, Melody Phone victrolas, and various other products.  Rising Sun is a small Ohio river town that has maintained much of it's original mid 19th century buildings.  I purchased this set in July of 1997 from Ralph Muchow who lived in Elgin, Illinois.  For years it sat up on a top shelf, in a back room that housed his extensive vacuum tube collection, at his downtown museum.
