Knight A9830
1937
Allied Radio Corporation,
833 W. Jackson Bulavard,
Chicago, Illinois USA

The Knight A9830 is the largest table model radio Allied offered in 1937.  It's one of the largest horizontal tombstone radios I have ever come across next to some of the huge early 1940s Zenith horizontal table model sets.  The chassis is large, incorporating 11 tubes with a 10 inch speaker, something that would more likely to be found in a console radio and it's full rich sound would make it a strong competitor with the console sets of it's time.  The dial has four bands that are etched in the glass and color filled and, when illuminated, is striking with the vivid colors of Yellow, Red, Green, Blue and White.  I purchased this radio at the 1997 "Radiofest" at Elgin, Illinois.
